DESCRIPTION
In conjunction with the Director Air & Expedited Services, the International Operations Specialist is responsible for administrating and executing the strategic and operational direction of export and import service programs. The person in this position is responsible for the day to day operations including managing customer shipment orders which includes dispatch of appropriate resources to accommodate shipment parameters, routing shipments in an efficient and cost effective manner to ensure compliance with customer service requirements, communicating shipment details to all parties having interest in the shipment and monitoring shipment status from pickup through to final delivery. The International Operations Specialist is responsible providing rate quotes as requested and for applying revenue to all shipment orders and ensuring vendor costs are properly accrued in order to eliminate rating discrepancies.
It is of key importance that the international air freight specialist has a thorough working knowledge of all resources available that will enhance our company’s ability to provide the highest level of export-import transportation and logistics services.
The person in this position must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize job responsibilities to insure critical deadlines are not compromised must identify and resolve issues and maintain positive employee and customer relations.
Responsibilities
* Maintain current knowledge of vendor resources and their service capabilities,
* Apply routing direction for customer shipments to insure service commitments are maintained,
* Identify and evaluate special shipment needs and make routing decisions to accommodate specific nuances,
* Organize and maintain customer rates and vendor tariffs
* Monitor in transit shipments and communicate progress to all concerned parties
* Communicate with customers and vendors to improve and evaluate services,
* Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS

1) High School diploma or a Bachelor degree preferred and must have a minimum of 5 years experience in domestic or international air freight industry. The person in this position must have a thorough knowledge of international air transportation, logistics products and services.
2) Must understand government and TSA regulations regarding security and the handling of dangerous goods.
3) Able to demonstrates ability tosolve somewhat more complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job. Must be able to recognize anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately. Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity. Proven ability to identify and resolve problems
4) Able to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments. Experience with transportation management systems, including Mercury Gate, preferred. Able to demonstrate continued expertise in the primary tools or applications used in completing daily work assignments.
5) Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Must be able to communicate with customers and vendors and translate instructions into positive actions.
6) Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.
7) Must have good basic mathematics and be willing to work a flexible shift schedule.
