DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for various functions, the managing of all aspects of carrier relations including but not limited to rate negotiation, service issues, problem solving, metric tracking, etc. This position will work closely with RRDL operations, vendors, RRD corporate, sales, and all other RRD affiliates to solve all or specific transportation needs. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to procure national, regional carriers of all sizes for specific lanes/regions needed within the United States, Mexico and Canada through all market seasons.
Position requires experience with carrier/customer rate/accessorial tariffs/tables, uplifts, and knowledge of market costs and conditions as well as the ability to create custom cost savings reports, compliance tracking tools and service measurement tools. Experience with transportation software such as the AS400, Mercury Gate, Czar Lite etc. is a must. The position requires the ability to negotiate with carriers. Position will require some minimal travel to visit carriers or potential customers to assist on sales visits.
Responsibilities
* Create analysis tools to help identify areas of weakness when comparing ourselves to market.
* Find existing carriers that complement our network, provide required service and competitive cost solutions.
* Negotiating with carriers on rates.
* Interpret customer issues to discuss and resolve service issues with existing carriers.
* Build effective relationships with internal staff and carriers.
* Assist as required as an internal resource for the development and documentation of standard operating procedures.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

1) Associates Degree or minimum 10 years experience in a multi modal capacity (air, expedited, ocean, truckload and LTL, OR demonstrate ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of work experience. May possess additional education certification in this level.
2) Excellent knowledge of distribution concepts, practices and procedures a must.
3) Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job.
4) May provide oversight of work conducted by junior level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy. Demonstrated ability to deliver results with minimal supervision
5) Must have advanced knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs such as MS Office specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully. Including Mercury Gate transportation software experience
6) Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments
7) Must have strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustment to meet business needs. Excellent problem identification and solving skills required.
Computer skills required including proficiency in:
Microsoft Office software, transportation software and IT background. Experience with transportation software, CzarLite and SMC software a must.
